Senior AI-Native Product Engineer, Mobile

Job Description:

Design and ship mobile client architecture for AI in conversations across iOS and Android
Own cross-platform architectural decisions for the Zillow Instant Messaging (ZIM) messaging core
Build real-time, resilient messaging experiences for unreliable mobile networks
Define observability and SLOs
Partner with AI, Web, and Backend teams on Zillow's conversational AI roadmap
Represent mobile in product and architectural decisions
Use AI coding agents and help establish team standards
Improve testing and delivery velocity through unit, snapshot, and UI automation
Develop shared tooling adopted by other teams
Mentor engineers across iOS and Android
Build Zillow's AI-powered mobile messaging experience for people navigating the real estate market

Requirements:

5+ years building and shipping native mobile applications at consumer scale
Production experience on both iOS and Android, or deep expertise in one platform and demonstrated delivery in the other
Fluency in Swift and Kotlin
Comfort with SwiftUI and Jetpack Compose
Experience building features on real-time or streaming data
Experience integrating GraphQL clients, including caching and cache invalidation
Production experience using AI coding agents
Experience owning architecture of a module or platform used by other teams
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent work experience
Clear communication with engineers, product managers, and designers
Preferred: experience integrating LLM or generative AI features into a consumer mobile product
Preferred: experience with messaging, chat, or communications products
Preferred: experience with on-device inference or streaming/token-level UI rendering
Preferred: track record of driving technical standards adoption beyond the immediate team
