Safety SpecialistThe Safety Specialist reports to the Safety Manager and provides mentoring within the Safety Department. This position is responsible for the administration of the Company's job sites and workplace programs to maintain a safe, quality, healthy and environmentally acceptable work environment.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>Mentoring of the Safety Specialists in field inspection activity</li><li>Conduct and document regular environmental, health and safety field crew audits/inspections.</li><li>Conduct and document regular quality audits/inspections as qualified or jointly as assigned.</li><li>Field orientation for third party contract services.</li><li>Storm Duty On Call as needed</li><li>Coordinates and assists with new hire orientation, driver evaluations, forklift training and initiates the distribution of initial PPE issue as well as fulfill field requests and maintains the safety training room.</li><li>Oversees and ensures employee rubber goods are changed out per OSHA and contractual guidelines.</li><li>Identifies, documents and recommends mitigation of hazardous/potentially hazardous conditions; follow through to ensure corrections have been made.</li><li>Conduct and lead serious incident investigations, injuries and property damage; including compiling data, taking photographs and completing proper documentation</li><li>Compiles data, photographs, etc.; prepare all pertinent forms and reports per program procedures and federal, state, local regulations associated with all incidents and accidents.</li><li>Review job site documents and permits for regulatory compliance and accuracy (i.e. PA-1 Call, Crew JSA, Lock Out Tag Out Clearances, Confined Space, etc....) as required</li><li>Respond to site-specific requirements to fulfill general contractors and host employers job safety field directives (i.e. safety stand-downs, disciplinary action, site-specific training)</li><li>Conducts Job Hazard Analysis for specific tasks and focus on field hazard recognition/correction</li><li>Tracks /documents employee training certifications and training requirements for projects and specific job tasks to ensure compliance including ISN database.</li><li>Track, inspect and facilitate maintenance for AED’s, fire extinguishers, multi-gas direct reading tools.</li></ul> These duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing, and other duties will be assigned based on the needs of the business and the needs of the Safety Manager, varying by location, within the business unit. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:<ul><li>Experience working in the utility field (power) preferred PECO</li><li>College degree in a Safety related field or a combination of education and relevant job experience.</li><li>OSHA 30-hour training in Construction within last 5 to 10 years preferred.</li><li>NFPA 70 E Trained</li><li>Understanding of quality control program (aka ISO 9000) and customer needs.</li><li>Advanced safety certifications from BCSP (ASP, CSP, CHST, STS) desirable.</li><li>CPR and First Aid Certification</li><li>Maintain at a minimum a valid PA driver’s license;</li><li>Minimum 5 to 10 years of safety construction experience.</li></ul>
