Grounds Worker/Seasonal

This seasonal position is responsible for the maintenance of municipal parks and cemeteries.  Duties performed are of a manual and unskilled nature requiring physical endurance and a willingness to perform menial tasks.  Direct supervision is received from higher level personnel.  Related work is performed as required.<br><br><div style="text-align: center;"><strong style="color: inherit; font-style: normal; text-indent: 0px; text-align: start;" data-pasted="true">CITY RESIDENCY IS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION</strong></div><ul><li>Trims hedges, and prunes trees, using hand tools;</li><li>Mows lawns, using hand or power-driven lawnmower;</li><li>Cleans up glass and litter;</li><li>Empties trash receptacles;</li><li>Repairs and paints benches and tables;</li><li>Operates a variety of grounds maintenance equipment (mowers, leaf and snow blowers, sod cutters, string trimmers, etc.);</li><li>Performs minor preventative maintenance on play apparatus, and other park or cemetery equipment;</li><li>Removes snow from walkways, steps, and driveways;</li><li>May assist in preparing, digging, and filling of grave sites;</li><li>May assist in preparing and setting foundations for hetones.</li></ul>Three (3) months of full-time paid experience (or its part-time equivalent) in a position related to exterior maintenance of grounds, plantings, or recreation areas.
