Graphic Designer / Canva Specialist -- Ongoing Freelance Work
Our office staff can make basic materials in Canva, but we are looking for someone with a true graphic design background and a strong eye for professional layout, typography, visual hierarchy, imagery, and branding.
We want our materials to look polished and professionally designed—not like standard Canva templates.
Canva Is Important
Our final designs need to be delivered as fully editable Canva files in our Canva workspace.
We need to be able to make simple changes ourselves after a project is completed, such as changing dates, pricing, photos, text, QR codes, or class information.
You are welcome to use other design software as part of your creative process if needed, but the finished design must remain genuinely editable in Canva. We do not want a flattened Illustrator or Photoshop design simply placed into Canva as an image.
Over time, we would also like this person to help us develop a cohesive library of reusable Canva templates for our different programs and types of marketing.
What We Will Provide
Depending on the project, we will provide our:
Logo and brand elements
Brand colors and fonts
Photos
Copy/content
Dimensions and intended use
General objective or call to action
Examples of previous materials when helpful
We appreciate a designer who can take that information and use their own creative judgment rather than needing us to direct every design decision.
The Person We're Looking For
We would particularly like someone who:
Has a strong professional graphic design portfolio
Is highly proficient in Canva
Has experience with both digital and print design
Understands designing for parents/families and consumer marketing
Can create colorful, engaging materials without making them look cluttered or juvenile
Understands calls to action and marketing—not just attractive design
Communicates well and responds reliably
Can generally accommodate reasonable turnaround times
Takes feedback well and is comfortable making revisions
Is interested in learning our brand and working with us long-term
Please include:
A link to your portfolio, particularly examples of flyers, postcards, , brochures, or other marketing materials.
Several examples of work you personally designed in Canva.
A brief description of your graphic design background.
Your typical turnaround time for a one-page flyer or postcard.
Your hourly rate or typical project pricing.
Confirmation that you can provide fully editable Canva files that we can continue to use and modify.
