Geographer

Duties

• Uses Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software, geographic concepts, tools, and systems to update databases and perform geospatial analysis.
• Reviews proposals and statistical methodology for geographic operations.
• Designs and develops GIS methods to prepare spatial databases and map population patterns.
• Analyzes and reports on population patterns and prepares reports and technical presentations.

Qualifications

GS-11 level requires experience using GIS software and computing tools to conduct geographic research, spatial analysis, and mapping.

GS-12 level requires experience developing improved methods for using GIS software and establishing quality standards.

Minimum education requirement is a Bachelor's degree in geography or related field with at least 24 semester hours in geography or related fields.

Salary: $78,972 - $130,080 per year (GS-11 to GS-12). Permanent, full-time position. Multiple locations: Atlanta, GA and Oak Brook, IL.
